Renting an RV in Tulsa: what to know before pickup
Tulsa has its own arrival logistics. Keystone State Park handles both the first night and the free dump station. One street-parking ordinance applies to RVs here — cited in full in the arrival guide.
Dump stations & water
- Keystone State Park — free, potable water
Camp the first night
- Keystone State Park · 18 mi out · Electric on 240 sites; water at host station
Skip the classic mistake
Trying to drive a Class A on Historic Route 66 alignments through downtown
Best window: Mid-April through May and September through October — between Plains thunderstorm and…
The Tulsa window to avoid
July through August — heat index 100-110 F and tornado-warning windows.
What that mistake costs
Many original Route 66 alignments are pre-Interstate width; rigs over 35 ft cautioned
Day one, after you pick the rig up
- Top off propane at U-Haul of Tulsa, 4720 E 11th St, Tulsa, OK 74112, on arrival day if tanks read below 30%.
- Drive direct to Keystone State Park — Tulsa Code Title 37 restricts overnight on-street parking in residential zones.
- Verify scenic-drive open status on Mother Road (Historic Route 66) through Tulsa (some seasonal closures).
