Wellfleet's oysters are among the most prized on the East Coast, and the Wellfleet OysterFest fills the outer-Cape town's downtown for one weekend each October (October 17-18, 2026) with local oysters and clams, the Oyster Shuck-Off competition, an art fair, eco-tours and live music. It's shoulder-season Cape Cod — the summer crush gone, the light gorgeous. For RV travelers, Nickerson State Park in Brewster has one of Cape Cod's largest campgrounds about 15 minutes west, with kettle ponds and the Cape Cod Rail Trail, and Wellfleet's own Maurice's Campground sits closer still — either way you get the National Seashore beaches on your off day.
