There is no camping in Memorial Park itself, so the trailer plan is a nearby basecamp and an early alarm — Cheyenne Mountain State Park keeps full-hookup sites on the city's south edge, and commercial parks cluster along the interstate within a short drive of downtown.
The city sits above six thousand feet, so Labor Day mornings start jacket-cold even when afternoons bake. Launches are wind-dependent and called morning by morning; build a backup morning into the weekend rather than pinning everything on one. Leave the trailer at camp — event parking near Memorial Park is passenger-car parking, and the surrounding streets are no place to hunt for a long space before dawn.
