Parking ordinances that bite RVs
No 'large equipment and recreational vehicle' — defined to include travel trailers, pickup campers or coaches, motorized dwellings, tent trailers, boats and boat trailers, storage trailers and utility trailers — may be parked or stored on any lot in a residential district except in a carport, an enclosed building, or behind the nearest portion of a building to the street. It may be parked anywhere on residential premises for up to 24 hours for loading or unloading, and may never obstruct a street, alley or sidewalk.

What this means for you: The definition is unusually wide and explicitly covers cases and boxes used to transport recreational equipment, occupied or not. In practice: in an Oxford neighbourhood your rig must go behind the house line, and you get exactly 24 hours in the driveway to load or unload. Subsection (d) separately bans using it for living, sleeping or housekeeping when parked on a residential lot.
No large equipment or recreational vehicle may be parked anywhere on city streets, including city parking spaces, for more than 24 hours.

What this means for you: The on-street counterpart to the residential-lot rule, and it expressly reaches city parking spaces — so paying for a space does not buy you a second night. Combined with Sec. 87-43's general 72-hour street cap for ordinary vehicles, RVs are held to a tighter clock than cars in Oxford.
It is unlawful to park any vehicle on any street within the city for a continuous period exceeding 72 hours.

What this means for you: The general backstop for a tow vehicle you leave behind while the RV is at a campground. Note that this 72-hour allowance does NOT rescue the RV itself, which is capped at 24 hours by Sec. 87-42(c).

What this means for you: Reported with a caution: the section is titled 'Parking restricted' and sits in the Trailers and Trailer Parks chapter, but it dates to 1960 and its subject is placement of mobile homes and house trailers, not transient RV parking. A modern travel trailer arguably reads as a 'similar trailer'. Sec. 87-42 (adopted 2015) is the section that actually governs a visiting RV; treat 106-1 as background, not as the operative rule.
