Parking ordinances that bite RVs
No recreational vehicle may be used for living, sleeping or housekeeping purposes in ANY zoning district, and it may not be connected to public utilities. An RV over six feet tall must be stored in the rear yard at least five feet from any lot line; front-yard storage is allowed only on a driveway and only for up to seven days.

What this means for you: Subsection (f) is the one that bites a traveller: there is no district in Hot Springs where you may legally sleep in an RV outside a licensed park, and you may not plug into a friend's house. The six-foot height line means essentially every motorhome and travel trailer is rear-yard-only for storage. Adopted recently (Ord. No. 6513, 11-19-24), so this is current law, not legacy text.
It is unlawful to park any detached trailer on the streets of Hot Springs. 'Trailer' is defined to include camper trailers, boat trailers, horse trailers, utility trailers, cargo trailers, and any other platform on an axle designed to be towed.

What this means for you: If you tow a travel trailer to Hot Springs you cannot unhitch it on a city street even briefly — the offence is the detached trailer itself, not its duration. Penalty is a misdemeanor, $100 to $500, with each day a separate $50 offence, and the trailer is towed at your expense if not moved within 24 hours of the citation being affixed. Drop the trailer inside the campground, never at the curb.
Commercial vehicles larger than a standard passenger vehicle — including trailers, box trucks and buses — may not be parked outdoors overnight on a residential lot.
