Summer RV trips in Nevada

Lake Mead boating season 2026. Lake Mead National Recreation Area, on the Nevada–Arizona border near Boulder City, offers boating from spring through fall just outside Las Vegas. RV campgrounds within the NRA put travelers minutes from launch ramps.

World Series of Poker Main Event 2027. The World Series of Poker Main Event runs roughly July 3-16, 2027 at Horseshoe Las Vegas and Paris Las Vegas (the WSOP moved off the Rio in 2022 per Caesars Entertainment). The 7-week WSOP summer series itself starts late May. RV travelers handle Vegas in July via the LVH RV Resort (3 mi off-Strip, full hookups + 100°F-rated 50-amp pedestals), Oasis Las Vegas RV Resort (3 mi south of the Strip), or Sam's Town RV Park (~10 mi east). Cosmopolitan + ARIA RV valet does NOT exist; The Strip has zero on-property RV parking. Day-trip from Lake Mead RVPA + Boulder Beach NPS campground (~25 mi southeast) when the desert heat permits.

Hot August Nights 2027. Show-n-shines, cruises and live music fill Reno and Sparks with vintage iron each summer. A classic-touring rig parked at a Reno-area RV park puts you minutes from the downtown cruise routes.

F1 Las Vegas Grand Prix. F1 Las Vegas Grand Prix runs on a Strip-adjacent street circuit each November. Sam's Town RV Park offers full hookups 15 min east; Las Vegas KOA Resort is south of the Strip.

The Mint 400 2027. The Mint 400 is one of the oldest and best-known off-road races in America, running each March in the desert south of Las Vegas with festivities that spill onto Fremont Street downtown, where race week traditionally opens with vehicle parades and a contingency festival. Exact 2027 dates come from the organizers annually; the race has held an early-to-mid March slot. Spectating happens at designated zones along the course near Primm, and an RV is the natural tool — you're staging in open desert with no shade or services, then sleeping somewhere comfortable. Las Vegas RV resorts like Oasis Las Vegas RV Resort put you 30-40 minutes from the spectator areas with full hookups. March is high season for desert RV travel (spring break plus perfect temperatures), so Vegas-market rigs book 8-10 weeks out. Pair the race with Valley of Fire or Lake Mead days — the same rig covers both.

Electric Daisy Carnival Las Vegas 2027. Electric Daisy Carnival 2027 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway spans two consecutive weekends: EDC Dusk (May 14–16) and EDC Dawn (May 21–23), with Insomniac's Dusk Till Dawn events around Las Vegas from May 13 to 24. Camp EDC RV passes sold direct via Insomniac. Sam's Town RV Park is the closest reliable off-site backup.

The Great Reno Balloon Race 2027. The Great Reno Balloon Race fills the sky over Rancho San Rafael Regional Park each September and bills itself as the largest free hot-air ballooning event in the United States. The signature moment is Dawn Patrol: a handful of balloons launching in full darkness around 5am, glowing like lanterns before the mass ascension follows at first light. The 2027 race runs Thursday through Sunday, September 9-12, the week after Labor Day, on the organizers' own list of future dates. There is no camping at the launch park itself, so the RV move is a nearby full-hookup base — Sparks Marina RV Park sits about 15 minutes east — with pre-dawn drives to the park each morning. Early September in Reno is superb RV weather and a busy regional window (multiple events cluster in the same weeks), so book 8 weeks out and expect campgrounds across the Truckee Meadows to fill. Mornings are cold at 4,500 feet even when afternoons hit 85.

SEMA Show 2027. The 2027 SEMA Show runs November 2-5 at the Las Vegas Convention Center. Trade-only access requires verified industry badging via SEMAshow.com; the show is closed to the general public. Adjacent AAPEX (Sands Expo) runs the same week. RV camping for trade attendees: Oasis Las Vegas RV Resort (3 mi south of Strip, full hookups), LVH RV Resort (3 mi from LVCC, full hookups), Sam's Town RV Park (10 mi east). National Finals Rodeo 2027. The National Finals Rodeo is professional rodeo's season-ending world championship: the top 15 money-winners in each event compete across ten consecutive nights, traditionally in the first half of December at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas. Exact 2027 dates come from the PRCA's annual announcement. The event takes over the whole city — cowboy Christmas gift shows, free viewing parties on the Strip, and western wear in every casino — so even without arena tickets (which are notoriously hard to get), NFR week is an experience. December is the sweet spot of the Las Vegas RV calendar: cool, clear desert days, and rental demand well below spring peaks, which makes this one of the better big-event values on this list. Oasis Las Vegas RV Resort and other full-service parks sit 15-20 minutes from the arena. Book 6-8 weeks out; the rigs are easier to get than the rodeo tickets by a wide margin.
