What you need to know
The Maine Lobster Festival has crowned midcoast Maine's summer since 1947 — tons of fresh lobster steamed in the world's largest lobster cooker, a harbor parade, the Great International Lobster Crate Race and live music on Rockland's Harbor Park (the 79th annual, July 29-August 2, 2026, free admission). It's peak-season midcoast, so plan the RV base early: Camden Hills State Park, about 10 minutes north, has a wooded campground beneath the Camden hills with harbor-town access and the Mount Battie summit drive — an ideal launch for Rockland, Camden and the whole Penobscot Bay coast.
