America's most iconic state fair — eleven days, a butter cow, and a campground on the grounds. Class A · Class B · Class C — rent the rig you drive.
Book the fairgrounds campground first
The campground on the property is the whole argument for bringing a motorhome to this fair: thousands of sites, booked through the fair itself, with families returning to the same pads for decades. Treat it as the first reservation of the trip rather than the last.
If it is gone, Walnut Woods State Park is about ten miles out with electric on thirty-eight sites behind a forty-foot cap and water at the host station, and Ledges State Park north of the city runs water and electric to forty-five. Eleven August days means heat: an on-grounds pad lets you walk back to your own air conditioning at midday and return for the grandstand, which is the rhythm this fair rewards.
