North on US-93, the Flathead corridor to Polson and Lake McDonald gateway runs 130 miles, and the National Bison Range south of Polson reopened to public access under tribal management in 2022. Glacier NP East/West Glacier campgrounds book via recreation.gov 6 months ahead with high-demand sites (Apgar, Many Glacier) filling within the first hour of release. The mistake renters make
Driving Lochsa Highway (US-12 west of Lolo Pass into Idaho) in a 40+ ft Class A or large 5th-wheel combination. The Lochsa corridor has tight sweeping corners with limited overrun shoulder. Recovery towing from a corner overshoot on Lochsa runs $1,500-$3,500 due to remote location and limited tow operator access between Lolo Hot Springs and Kooskia ID (95 mi).
